Do I need internet for this app to work?

You will need a connection to the internet for this app to work. Either data or wifi will work, we're not picky!

How do I open the app with my voice?

iPhone

As long as you have an iPhone 4S or later with Siri enabled, you're good to go! Just follow these simple instructions.

  1. Open Siri (press and hold the home button)
  2. Say "Open See With Me"
  3. Siri will open the app

Android

As long as you have a device compatible with Google Now, you're good to go.

  1. Launch Google Now (varies by device, search online if you don't know how)
  2. Say "Launch See With Me"
  3. Google Now will launch the app

I'm having trouble scanning barcodes.

We're really sorry to hear that. Hopefully we can help. Let's walk through a few simple steps to solve the problem.

Trouble Finding the Barcode

  1. Try to make sure the phone is parallel with the product. You don't have to be perfect, but the less angle the better.
  2. Be about 6 inches (one to two fists) away from the product
  3. Figure out where the camera is on your device. It'll be easier to find the barcode with your device if you're aware of where it is.
  4. Slowly move your phone around the item. For smaller items, such as canned goods, it may be easier to hold your phone while slowly turning the product.
  5. Have someone assist you a couple of times. Their feedback can help you figure out the best way of moving your phone around the item. You should get used to it relatively quickly.

Barcode Not Scanning (with your device pointed directly at it)

  1. Do you have adequate light? Try it again in a well-lit room
  2. Is the image clear? Try cleaning the camera lens on the phone (but be careful not to scratch it)

What are commercial barcodes?

Commercial barcodes, also known as UPC/EAN/GTIN codes, are the barcodes that are found on products in stores. They are created by manufacturers and printed directly onto product packaging.

What are custom barcodes?

Let's say you have a pile of your favorite CDs, but you have trouble identifying them. Enter the title of your CD, print your custom barcode and attach it to the CD. Now use our app to read the barcode. Problem solved, enjoy your music! Custom barcodes can be put on almost anything, so be creative :)

  • Instructions: "cinnamon sticks, use 2 for making apple cider"

Why is my custom barcode deactivated?

Either you recently cancelled your subscription with us, or oops, your credit card expired and we didn't receive your monthly payment. Both result in your account being switched to a free account. Free accounts come with one custom barcode. The first one you created will remain active, and the remaining ones will be deactivated. But don't worry, you may reactivate those custom barcodes by signing up for another subscription.

Why did I get logged out by the system?

There are many possible reasons, but here are the most common:

  1. The system detected your login was suspicious. Typically, this may happen once or twice. It should not keep reoccuring.
  2. Your session had been open for too long.
  3. Another person logged in to your account while you were logged on. This is typically happens if more than one person uses your account (we recommend one person per account). If no one else uses your account, please change your password immediately.
  4. Your account was logged out for scheduled maintenance.

How do I change my password?

Follow these steps:

  1. Login to your account here
  2. In the My Account section click Account Settings on the left
  3. Enter your old password, then your new password twice.
  4. Click update. If there are errors (i.e. not correctly entering your current password, not meeting password requirements, etc.), please try again.

Why do I need a subscription for my barcodes to be auto-approved?

We want to ensure the quality of results returned by our app, and avoid spam. We don't expect that spammers would pay to add inaccurate results. After all, no one wants to open a can of pineapple and find out later it was actually beans.

When am I billed each month?

You'll be billed immediately when you initially subscribe, and every month after on the same day. For example, if you subscribe on the 5th, you'll be charged on the 5th of each month.

If the date doesn't exist the next month (for example, you subscribed on the 30th of January), you'll be charged on the last day of the month (in this example, the 28th or 29th of February)

What am I paying for?

If you use custom barcodes, we need to store your information on our server. Unfortunately, we have to pay for space on those servers. We also ensure that your data is safe and backed up regularly so you don't lose it.

Why am I getting a "You appear to be using Internet Explorer 8 or earlier" error?
